The SPAR Southern Africa is a wholesaler and distributor of a comprehensive range of grocery items, fresh produced and prepared food to independently owned SPAR stores. The Group now operates 783 SPAR outlets, 178 Build-it stores and 172 Tops liquor outlets. The stores are supplied from five Distribution Centers.

In order to meet future requirements Spar SA has, among other solutions, tested the Superdata Software SIGMA as a replacement for its present Merchandise Processing System. After extensive evaluation of the SIGMA functionality SPAR SA decided to start a pilot installation with SIGMA in the first quarter of 2006. After successful Pilot, a full rollout of all stores is planned.
